Pattonsburg, Missouri located in the heart of the nation is a growing community that is steeped in history yet continues to grow and look to the future. This community will win your heart! It is proud of its rich heritage, never forgetting where it has been, yet it still looks to the future. Pattonsburg has something for everyone young or old, from the unique monolithic domed schools to its tree lined main street with an eclectic mix of businesses from the old town and new businesses, such as; an old town cafe, a new bank, medical clinic a beautician and much more.
What's the old town you ask? Pattonsburg, Missouri is located at the confluence of Big Creek and the Grand River (a tributary of the Missouri River), the town had been flooded 33 times. The Great Flood swept through Pattonsburg on July 6, 1993, exactly 84 years after the community’s first major flood disaster on July 6, 1909. Then flood waters came back a second time. On July 23, 1993, the Grand River sent another surge of muck and debris back through the community. This flood was the last straw! In the fall of 1993 the residents voted in favor of relocating their town and rebuilding it on higher ground. In the spring of 1994, Pattonsburg got news that it would receive $12 million in federal disaster assistance. The Federal Emergency Management Agency saw potential in Pattonsburg and agreed to help move the town. What are you waiting for? Why don't you make Pattonsburg your new home!
